TOTALS

Good evening,

Now that February has come and gone I thought I would give you my totals since I started training back on August 23, 2016. The 23rd was the day after IRONMAN CDA 2016, I entered that day and started training.

The first 6 months were really all about getting back into the swing of things. Getting use to doing one or two activities each day. Also, I hadn’t been in a pool since 2008 so I felt I had a lot of catching up to do there.

I didn’t want to put too much mileage on too early either. I kept my running to a comfortable minimum. I was on my bike 3 times per week but I didn’t hammer out the kilometers though I did do a 100 km ride through the City of Edmonton when the Tour of Alberta came through back in September.

I wanted to be as fresh and ready for the last 6 months as possible and I feel I have accomplished that. I am enjoying the fitness level I am at. Don’t tell anyone but I have rather enjoyed my time in the pool. Crazy! Never thought I would say that in my lifetime.

Now the real training starts. You will see the run and bike mileage jump as we progress through each month. Easy to add lots of kilometers to your bike totals when you are out there biking for 5 hours. The swim totals will increase slightly but nothing to great. I feel I am putting enough time and meters in each week.

The categories I track are (naturally) the RUN, BIKE and SWIM. I also track how many hours I spend doing YOGA and how many hours I spend lifting WEIGHTS. Plus, I count how many days I miss. These are days where I do nothing. NOTHING. Walking does not count. I don’t have days planned in my training schedule as off days where I do nothing. My off days are supposed to be YOGA days, stretching. Life gets in the way as we all know and workouts get missed or sometimes you just don’t feel like doing anything except laying on the couch and watching the CUBS win the WORLD SERIES😁🍺👍

So, here you are.

My totals from August 23, 2916 to February 28, 2017.

RUN 277 km

BIKE 991 km

SWIM 98,900 m

YOGA 27 hours

WEIGHTS 42.5 hours

TOTAL MISSED DAYS: 17

One last thing. I want to be 185 lbs or lighter on August 27th. I did IRONMAN CDA in 2008 at 203 lbs. I am at 193 lbs right now. I will keep you posted on my weight loss. The lighter I can be, the easier I can climb which will bring my overall bike pace up. The bike is where I think I can shed the most time.

Talk to you soon.
